With over 20 years of deep desert experience, Al Haiz Oasis Tours isn’t just another safari company. Based in Baharyia Oasis, our Bedouin guides and drivers treat you like family. You’ll travel in powerful Toyota Land Cruisers, eat organic local food cooked over open fires, and explore with the genuine curiosity and joy of a child discovering ancient history, geology, and desert artifacts for the first time. Astrophotography? Sandboarding? Sunset walks to plateaus that have stood for millennia? It’s all included.

The Complete 7-Night Itinerary

Day 1 – Sept 20: Cairo → Fayoum → Abu Muharrik Dunes

Pickup at your Cairo hotel at 8:00 AM. We drive to the magical Fayoum depression, home to:

· Wadi el Hitan (Whale Valley) – A UNESCO World Heritage site where you’ll see 40-million-year-old whale skeletons embedded in desert rock. Yes, whales in the desert.

· Wadi el Rayan – A stunning oasis of waterfalls and golden sand.

· Magic Lake – A turquoise gem hidden among dunes. Perfect for a first taste of desert swimming.

Then we cross the Fayoum Desert through the surreal Watermelon Stone Valley (named for its giant, melon-shaped rocks). By sunset, we arrive at our pre-set camp in the Abu Muharrik Dunes – the longest moving dunes on Earth. Dinner under the stars.

Day 2 – Sept 21: Sunrise Coffee → Baharyia Oasis → Al Haiz Ecolodge

Wake to hot coffee and fresh fruit as the sun paints the dunes gold. After breaking camp, we head to Baharyia Oasis:

· Lunch under ancient palms and a refreshing dip in a cool natural spring.

· Tour highlights: English Mountain (Panoramic views), Pyramid Mountain (a natural wonder and dinosaur location), and the volcanic Black Desert – its iron-oxide hills look like another planet.

We end the day in Al Haiz Oasis. Take a private room, rest, then enjoy a traditional Bedouin party, with tea and seeets around the campfire, under the vibrant Milky Way after dinner.

Day 3 – Sept 22: Full Day in the White Desert

After breakfast, we enter the legendary White Desert – a protected natural wonder of surreal, wind-sculpted limestone and chalk formations.

· Crystal Mountain – A hill literally made of quartz crystals.

· Aguabat Valley (Valley of Obstacles) – A thrilling 4×4 pass through steep rock walls.

· Roman Spring (Ain Khadra) – An ancient spring still flowing after 2,000 years.

· Old & New White Desert – See the famous “Chicken & Mushroom” rock formations.

We find the perfect camp spot to watch the sunset and the Milky Way (a dream for astrophotographers) while dinner is prepared.

Day 4 – Sept 23: Caraween Dunes → Magic Spring → Sandboarding

· Caraween Dunes – Massive, cinematic dunes perfect for sandboarding (boards provided).

· Magic Spring – Another ancient Roman spring hidden in a palm tree outcrop Oasis.

· Flower Stone hunt – Search for desert rose, shells and fossilized sea lilies left from when this was an ocean floor.

· Incredible rock formations and panoramic vistas. We set up camp right in the dunes.

Day 5 – Sept 24: Gebel Shaou Shaou (Near Kharga Oasis)

We travel south to the awe-inspiring Gebel Shaou Shaou – a vast mountain plateau near Kharga Oasis. This is deep desert territory few tourists ever see. While your guides sets up camp and starts dinner, you’ll take a sunset walk across the plateau – a silent, spiritual experience that feels like walking on the roof of the Sahara.

Day 6 – Sept 25: Crossing to Dakhla Oasis → Sosal House

We cross westward toward Dakhla Oasis through a series of dramatic valleys and challenging plateau descents. Suddenly, the barren rock opens into vast palm tree forests – a “New Valley” oasis straight out of a mirage. You’ll arrive at Sosal Lodge, a gorgeous traditional desert lodge. Private room, time to refresh or relax by the gardens, then dinner.

Day 7 – Sept 26: Ancient Temples, Tombs & Basket Weaving

A full cultural day with a professional guide:

· Deir el-Hagar – A stunning sandstone pharaonic temple dedicated to Amun-Re.

· Muzzawaka Tombs – Vibrantly colored Greco-Roman tombs with frescoes that look freshly painted.

· El Qasr – An Islamic village straight out of the 12th century. Wander its covered alleys, mosque, olive oil grinder, courthouse and more.

· Stop to watch traditional pottery making and shop street vendors selling folk crafts from palm leaves.

· Back at Sosal Lodge after dinner: A private lesson in basket making from local artisans.

Day 8 – Sept 27: Leisurely Spring Morning → Return to Cairo

Enjoy a slow, leisurely breakfast and late morning by a local spring. Pack up, then transfer back to Cairo, arriving by approximately 7:00 PM. You’ll carry home not just photos, but the smell of olivewood, the taste of Bedouin tea, and the silence of the Sahara.
