Abu Maharrik- Djara Cave Safari
1 nights – 2 days from Cairo and back
Tour the LONGEST DUNES IN EGYPT , discover DJARA CAVE, traditional Bedouin FOODS
Day 1: 6:30AM pickup from Cilantro Cafe, Mostafa Mahmoud, Gam3et El Dewal, Cairo, leaving at 7AM. Take AC transportation 140kms south to El Minia Rd, we will meet our transfer there to 4×4 Landcruisers.
Entering Abu Muharrik dunes and stop for lunch in the dunes. Continue our adventure in the sand with sand-boarding and dune riding!
Abu Muharrik dunes are longitudinal sand dunes, East of Baharya in the Sahara desert. It is considered the longest sand dune system in Egypt, extending more than 600km!
We will arrive at the campsite and set up camp for the night. Fire started, tea made, then enjoy a traditional Bedouin dinner and a campfire under the stars. We will learn about the Bedouin way of life, and traveling in the desert, sharing valuable knowledge and enjoy the incredible Milky Way and starry night sky.
Day 2: 6AM sunrise, early birds will enjoy this serene landscape at dawn! 7AM fresh fruit, coffee and biscuits and pack camp. We will stop for discovery & photography along the way, throughout this stunning dune landscape, arriving at Djara Cave by 9AM. We will spend the morning discovering the Cave, the numerous stalagmites, stalactites and ancient petroglyphs. The cool cave is a perfect place to escape the heat of the desert and we will enjoy a brunch meal here.
By 11:30AM we continue our journey along these movable dunes 120kms to El Jerinat mountainous area. The picturesque high landscapes make incredible memories.
We will start our drive back to Baharya, arrive at a private property with fresh water springs in Baharya by 2:30PM. Here we will swim, relax on this beautiful Palm tree covered property under the famous Pyramid Mountain and dinosaur area, while lunch is prepared.
AC transportation will pick you up there by 5PM, and head back to Cairo.
Arriving in Cairo by 10:00PM.
